Toothbrushes in Bed

Of all the questions that this picture raises, the best one is "why are there TWO stockings?"

A toothbrush only has one 'leg'.

Remi

Our new kitty named Remi, short for Remington. He's six weeks old.

One Down...One to Go

Well, Baby Girl lost an earring last night and I didn't put it back in right away since we were at a party. We tried putting it in at bedtime, but it wouldn't go and she really doesn't like the pain of us trying to reinsert it.

She's keeping the other earring in for now. Not sure if she'll hold up to the pain of having the other one re-pierced. Probably not any time soon, anyway.

Ever since she had them pierced, Baby Girl flinches when we go to clean her ears or turn the earrings. Guess it may be something she won't want to do again for a few years?!?!?!? She wanted to have it done and now she knows what it feels like.

Dance Recital and Ears Pierced

Baby Girl had her second dance recital today and had her ears pierced afterwards.

She did great in recital.

This week she mentioned for the second time that she wanted to get her ears pierced. We took her to the mall last night so she could see what to expect. She wasn't crazy about the idea of the possibility of pain, but she still wanted to get them pierced today.

Luckily, they pierced her ears at the same time. Otherwise, I don't know if she would have been able to sit for the second ear. They pierced both and she cried.

She says they don't hurt so much now.

She picked pretty pink flowers. I wish I was getting my ears pierced again. ;-)

Walt Disney World Trip

Disney World trip from May 26 (Memorial Day) to June 1 (home around noon-time).

I was ready to go back the minute I left. Most of my favorite things were in Magic Kingdom: the Spectromagic Parade (nighttime) and the Wishes fireworks show. I often hopped back to Magic Kingdom at night just to catch those events. Also enjoyed Hollywood Studios.

Baby Girl met all the princesses and ate breakfast and lunch with many of them, too. Also met the main Disney players: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip -n- Dale, Pluto.

A great time was had by all.

Let's go back tomorrow!

Definition of Amibition

Baby Girl told us that she's going to be a doctor, dentist, AND a police officer. She even laid out a schedule for us as follows:
Wed-Doctor
Sunday-Dentist
Saturday-Police Officer

The other days of the week she will be a princess, clean houses, visit people, help people if they are sick (yes, that's similar to being a doctor...but this is different), & get medicine for moms n dads n kids if they are sick.

And she said she's going to do these things at these times of day-- 6:00, 9:00, 10:00, 1:00, 7:00, and 8:00.

Quotation from April 10, 2008

"This music hits the spot where I want music," says Baby Girl while listening to the pink ipod shuffle.

Cheesesteak Edumacation

Living this close to Philly, I think I'm finally getting educated in cheesesteak-ese. Though I've never had one, nor do I plan to have one, it's common knowledge out here that there's special etiquette when ordering cheesesteaks.

whiz wit = cheesesteak with onions, with cheez whiz
witout = no onions

Stuck on Pizza

I continue to find it disheartening that I am unable to find pizza out east that I really like. I mean, besides the Papa John's and Pizza Huts which you know are standard. It's really been quite a challenge to find a good pizza joint after having grown up with such exquisite pizza fare in the midwest ;-)

Truly, I think it has to do with how pizza places out here don't sell ONLY pizza. All the pizza places are pretty much full-menu restaurants. Steaks (short for cheesesteaks), wings, salads, hoagies. How can they possibly perfect their pizza when there's so much other food to think about, too.

Seems to me that the people out east don't know what they're missing when it comes to pizza.

I'm excited for the inception of a Ci-Ci's Pizza Buffet http://www.cicispizza.com/Default_flash.asp in Lancaster. It'll still be nearly an hour and a half drive, but better than the drive I'd have to take now to get to the closest one, which is in Baltimore.

If I ever do find the prized pizza, you'll be the first to know.

During a discussion yesterday at Sunday school of Jesus and the loaves and fishes, I asked Baby Girl if she knows what a miracle is. No, she says. I asked her if there's anything that Jesus/God can't do. Yes, she says. I asked her to name something that Jesus/God can't do.

Lie, she says.

Zinger.

Love those arches

She learned her best cosmetic tips from Mommy.

This particular technique is sure to hit the fashion runways by fall.

Windy here today. Baby Girl says we're having an earthquick. Yup, not earthQUAKE, rather an earthQUICK.

An earthquake is portrayed in one of her favorite movies, Freaky Friday. I don't think she knows about tornados, so all the blustery-ness can be chalked up to that earthquick we're experiencing!

My Friend's Kid

As smart as she is you would think she could be something more than a plumber.

Pray together to stay together...or just have sex

i'm so bad. i got this in an email today and i couldn't help but substitute the word PRAY with the words HAVE SEX (or whatever variation fits).

when you're married to a pastor, you just gotta do what you gotta do to stay sane!!!!

seriously, try reading this the funny way..it's great! especially the last few sentences...classic!!!

there's a party in hell and we're all invited.

Pray together to stay together
Studies do bear out this fact – couples that pray together, stay together. When folks ask me for marital advice, my first question to them usually focuses on their prayer life. It’s amazing how many problems will be corrected when a couple will diligently pray and ask God for help.

Here are a few tips: - Pray with your wife every day at the same time. - Limit interruptions. Let your kids know you all will be praying and you expect them to give you a few minutes of peace. - Take a couple moments to talk about what you all will pray for. If you feel awkward praying, it’s OK! Just do it...even if it’s only for 30 seconds...it’s a start. - Pray specifically for your marriage and family.

Good Lookin'

Tonight at supper, Baby Girl asked Daddy if he thinks Mommy is smart. He said yes.

Then she asked Mommy if she thinks Daddy is smart. Mommy said yes, very smart.

Then Daddy asked Baby Girl if she think she's smart. Baby Girl said, "Hhhmmm, a little bit."

Daddy asked, "Do you know what smart means?"

Baby Girl said, "No."

Then Daddy said, "It means you're good looking."

Baby Girl opened her eyes wide and said, "I'm good looking!" Then she closed one eye and said, "Even with one eye closed, I'm still good looking."

HA!

In the Presence of Royalty

When out in public, and someone says to Baby Girl, "Hello, Princess!", Baby Girl turns to us and asks, "How did she know I'm a princess?"

Am I officially Pennsylvanian now?

Ate at Shady Maple this morning with my friends from work. Check it out here http://www.shady-maple.com/smorg.html.

They FORCED me to try shoo-fly pie and whoopie pie. I was very non-plussed by the shoo-fly pie. It's some sort of molasses pie...almost like pecan pie, but pecan pie actually has some flavor to it. Shoo-fly pie comes in two varieties: wet bottom or dry bottom. Those are descriptions of how much molasses is used and the recipe that is followed.

Whoopie pie tastes like Hostess Ho-Hos, but it looks like a big cake oreo. Two round chocolate cakes with white filling in between. That was much better than the shoo-fly pie.

Guess I'm finally official.

See October 27, 2007 post for more info.

Kerrfunk's been away since Thursday...coming home today. Baby Girl told me yesterday that she still remembers what Daddy looks like.

And she said that it's nice having me around.

Awwwww.

I'm goin to Disney World!

Baby Girl enjoyed the Superbowl and claims she wanted the Giants to win all along.

She's also been enjoying the Disney commerical where they ask the Giant player (eli manning?) that classic question, "Now that you've won the Superbowl, what are you going to do?"

He of course answers, "I'm goin to Disney World!"

Baby Girl says she wants to go to Disney World with the Giants!

Trick

Baby Girl played a goooood trick on Kerrfunk and I this week. She claimed that her favorite blue blankie was missing, so Daddy and I began a fervent search for Blue Blankie. We didn't find it in any of the usual spots so we decided to ask at the YMCA and the grocery stores the next time we went, in case Blue Blankie was left at one of those places.

When we mentioned not finding Blue Blankie at home, Baby Girl would respond, "I think it's at home." And she never got REALLY upset about Blue Blankie being gone. We questioned it, but continued with the search.

So when Baby Girl had swimming lessons next, Kerrfunk asked at the front desk for the lost and found. No Blue Blankie. On the way home from swimming, they stopped at one grocery store and waited (Baby Girl included) in a loooong line at customer service to finally ask about the lost and found. Again, no Blue Blankie. I asked at the other grocery store. No Blue Blankie.

Finally, the other night, Baby Girl says, "Let's look for Blue Blankie!" and she runs over to the hiding place. Sure enough, she hid the blanket under one of her big teddy bears.

We are amazed that she kept this surprise from us for as many days as she did....and consequently went without Blue Blankie for so long.

She continues to astound us!

My New Car....

...for a few days, anyway, while we get the dent taken out of the Corolla (see post from June 3, 2007)
Borrowing it from a friend at church. I already vacuumed it all out for her and wiped the interior down.
Depending on the weather, I hope to wash it before returning it also.
Too bad it's not warm enough to have the top down.

White Dove for Baptism

Okay. Flashback to June 17, 2004. Baby Girl was 15 mos. old and baptized on that day. Later in the evening, it was kinda rainy.

A white dove showed up on our front porch. It hung out for a few hours. I put a box out in case it wanted shelter from the rain.

The next morning it was gone, having left it's calling card in the form of bird poop.

We were awestruck that a white dove would just happen to hang out at our house on the very same day as Baby Girl's baptism.

Makes one think, eh?

Might Have to Get This One

True Dat!

Like this bumper sticker, but I think it's too Bush administration specific to bother getting for the car now.

Survived NYE in Times Square

Scroll down to see a powerpoint I made with my pictures.

It's even better with the music I had set up with it, but I haven't figured out a satisfactory way to keep the powerpoint and music together.

And the uploaded version has some minor changes due to compression (or something like that).
