Birthday Designs
Gearing up for Baby Girl's 4th birthday involves planning a design for her birthday invitations. The design below was from last year and I spent a lot of time playing around with the design possibilites. I taught myself what I like to call the "Disney effect" with the sparkles. It's just star and dot symbols laid over the fonts. Disney uses this effect all the time for the princess themes, though I'm guessing they have a much easier tool for applying the effect.
Stay tuned for Baby Girl's invite for this year, which is an Ariel/Little Mermaid theme. I'll try to have that posted this week. I didn't spend as much time playing around with this year's invite. Maybe I'm just getting better, simpler, or lazier????
p.s. I know the picture is not very clear, but you get the idea.
This is the invite....

Pintel and Ragetti Quotations
Pintel and Ragetti are the comic relief/clown pirates in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.
Here are some of their funny exchanges from Dead Man's Chest:
Pintel: You know you can't read.
Ragetti: It's the Bible, you get credit for trying.
and it continues.....
Ragetti: [studies his upside-down Bible intently, then looks up] Well, I say it was Divine Providence what escaped us from jail.
Pintel: And *I* say it was me bein' clever. [turns to the dog with the keys]
Pintel: Ain't that right, Poochie?
Ragetti: Well, how'd you know it weren't Divine Providence what inspired you to *be* clever?

Jack Frost and Suzy Snowflake
Baby Girl has been very interested in Jack Frost lately, since we've been seeing frost on our window panes and on the car. She wondered what he looks like.
Baby Girl took a liking to this photo of Jack Frost that we found in
Wikipedia. I think she likes it
because there's a horse in the
picture, also.
Personally, I like Suzy Snowflake.

Here comes Suzy Snowflake, dressed in a snow-white gown.
Tap, tap, tappin' at your windowpane, to tell you she's in town.
Here comes Suzy Snowflake, soon you will hear her say, "Come out ev'ryone and play with me, for I haven't long to stay."
"If you want to make a snowman, I'll help you make it, one, two, three.
If you want to take a sleigh ride, whoops! The ride's on me."
Here comes Suzy Snowflake, look at her tumblin' down.
Bringing joy to ev'ry girl and boy, Suzy's come to town.

Good Cat-on-Cat Action!!!
We've had Rudy for one week now, and we're finally
starting to see some good cat-on-cat action!
My bets are on the little orange guy :-)
Also, notice Paddington's pretty green collar. He's so handsome!

Funny Adult Ed Classes
Here are some ads for the GOAT MILK soapmaking classes being offered as adult education in our community. As if one class isn't enough, there's a "Part 2" class if you "enjoyed making goat milk soap" so much last semester! Also, looking forward to the Club Drugs for Adults. Sounds like a wild time....need to find a sitter for that night :-) Oh, and that one's free!

Signs I Like
Some of my favorite signs that I see when I'm out and about. I like them mostly because the designs seem to be from 1950s-1970s.
